I couldn't believe it. Dad just pushed me all around the neighbor hood looking for autumn photography and the light was terrible. We took a short cut back to our house and this little guy was curled up on our lawn. It was amazing, I got up so close without disturbing him and he was quite happy for me to get loads of photos. My clothes are now soaked where I lay on the lawn but my heart is high, Such an amazing wildlife experience

he was seven inches long, four inches wide and three inches high. Lying down.

These little ones are protected where I live :-) - almost none left. We used to put out the milk on a platter to them when I was a child ...

Wow really. That's terrible how come there are none. Aww that's really sweet, the hedgehog society have told us to put food out for it so it puts on more weight. They have to be a minimum weight to survive hibernation. I think we will but we also don't want to encourage rats!

Interesting, I did not know that. The biggest problem for them here is the traffic. It hurts to see them when they are lying on the roadside after a "meeting" with a car :-(
Ps! Keep on feeding them!
You have cats, and do not need to be afraid of rats! :-)

It was on a programme on Autmnwatch and it was all, about hedgehogs, it was so good and really interesting.
Ah the traffic is dangerous here aswell. Me too I feel so sad everytime I see it :( but they have little hedgehog ladders under cattle grids so if they fall down them they can crawl up.
Yes we will feed them, you have a good point. If Skye can catch a stoat and win the battle like he did then he can definitely beat any rat. Couldn't believe it when he brought back the stoat, I mean it could have killed him! They're really vicious.
